Genius Hour is all about developing your passions, and in order to do that, we must first know what they are. We began by brainstorming ideas based on the following three categories: “I love…” , “I wonder…”, and “I wish…”.  Students were encouraged to think of things that were unique to them, that not everyone else would write. I was impressed with their responses as they were far deeper than I imagined they would be. We then watched the following video which introduced them to three new questions… “I’m not okay with…”, “I have…”, and “I can”. Following the video they went through the process again of providing one response for each category and adding them to their brainstorming sheets.

I explained to students that through thinking about what they love, wonder, wish, are not okay with, have, and can do, that they should have an idea of what they are passionate about. Students will use what they are passionate about to develop their Genius Hour work.
